The Impact of Racial Trauma on Mental Health: A Real Perspective

Racism, whether subtle or direct, has long-term impacts on the mental and behavioral health of people of color. Join us for our upcoming session with NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore to learn how we can not only help reduce the stigma associated with mental health, but also to educate one another on the intersections of race and trauma as it relates to mental health. We will hear from a volunteer with lived experience who will speak openly about what it is like to have a mental health condition and how race has impacted their mental health journey.Register Here

    Latesha Higgs, a native of Baltimore, MD and mother of two, is the founder and CEO of The DIVA Effect, Inc. and the program coordinator of its girls mentoring program, DIVA Dolls. From her grandfather, the late Rev. Dr. Nathaniel Higgs, she observed, learned and recognized the importance of community uplift and empowerment. She witnessed his genuine love, respect and compassion for others and dreamed of one day continuing his legacy of servant leadership by helping and strengthening others and their communities.
